Our new Owen window is installed!
Natasha Redina’s stunning new stained glass window for Wilfred Owen has been installed. It represents the culmination of a project which began some five years ago when the committee contacted the Worshipful Glaziers Company in order to be part of the prestigious Stevens Competition for stained glass window designers.
A dedication service is being held on Saturday 4 November, for ticket holders only. The service will be preceded by a series of talks and short film screenings at Dunsden village hall. Both events will also be live streamed, with a download link available after the event.
Many dozens of people donated to the window fund. They will be present at the service at which they will hear Fred Potts, a young actor from Wallingford, read some of Owen’s poignant last letters from France.
The ticket holder only event is being held on the anniversary of the death of Wilfred Owen who died on 4 November, 1918, one week before the end of WW1. Guests will include the Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Oxfordshire, Lady Hall, and the Bishops of Oxford and Dorchester. Representatives of the Wilfred Owen Association and the Wilfred Owen Association France will also be present.
Check back on our homepage on Saturday for the live streaming link.
All Saints Church, Dunsden will also be open to everyone wishing to see the new window from midday on Sunday November 5th, when refreshments will be available.
Natasha Redina has prepared a brochure about her design.
